S/Y Otavatar

Otavatar is our newest sailboat. It was gifted to us in the spring of 2024 and we share ownership with Merimaskun Reimarit. With a new sailboat our goal is to broaden our sea scouting and guiding program and complete various scout badges in different age sections. For example, in cub scouts they have a badge for learning how to use boat’s toilet.

RIITTA

Riitta was carved to model an old archipelago fishing boat. It was handed over to Märssyvahdit in Jiippi-project in 2012. In Riitta we use strong guides and scouts as a motor. The sailboat can fit 12 people.
Riitta requires maintenance all year around, since the stern and the hull have to be treated with tar regularly. This is all done with volunteers.
Riitta doesn’t have a ballast keel so it can be docked into quite shallow waters. As weights we use, as is the tradition, stones in the bilge.
Experiential sailing in the Rymättylä style!

AGAPI

Agapi “mustard jar” is small sailboat that was gifted to our scout group. Agapi is an excellent training sailboat for basic sailing. It can be used a Riitta’s support boat and for a small boat Agapi is quite spacious. Agapi is able to fit 4-5 five scouts or guides.

Terhi

Terhi can fit 4 people at max and is used especially by young scouts and guides. Terhi spent a few years in Kolo until it was launched. Terhi is a dinghy so even young scouts and guides can sail with it independently.
